A breakthrough!

Hi!
Today begins week 4 of the Sorribes experiment, and I think I have worked out all of the kinks.
I needed to find a way to sleep in the Clips since without one, I’d only be using that product for about 4 hours a day (since I prefer not to wear them at work).
And so, I found one. It really wasn’t anything innovative or exciting. I took an over-the-counter pain-killer about an hour before bed, and then just “toughed it out.”
The first night was rough. The second night, a bit easier. By the third night I didn’t need any drugs. I just fell asleep normally. Though I can’t say I’m not aware of the slight discomfort the Clips cause, it’s no longer painful. At all. I feel a few more nights will get me totally used to it. So here is my new “Sorribes Schedule.” I’m hoping to keep this as consistent as possible.

7am- Take off the Clips, Shower, Replace the Strips
7pm- Put on the Clips

So this means the Strips are worn 24 hours a day, and the Clips about 12 hours.
I am hoping 12 hours is enough to make an impact.

I don’t really see any difference cosmetically, but I do have a couple of new ear shots for you.

In other news, I took a few minutes to do some new research on the product, and I found this:

I’m not posting it because it’s a convincing testimonial, but because I think this guy does a pretty good job of demonstrating how to use both the Strips and the Clips (something my videos lack!)
He seems to feel the product worked for him after two months, but doesn’t offer any before and after pictures.

My video is done, but I barely have the time to edit at the moment, because it’s a very busy time of year at my place of work.
You will see it up for SURE by next Wednesday, and it answers all of your questions, gives tips, and a fresh demo that you can follow step-by-step.

Question of the week:

Can ANYONE tell me about a Sorribes experience lasting for more than 3 months?
Did it work?
Did it not work?
Did you get frustrated and give up?
Anything to share with us at all?

Please comment below.
Thanks and have an awesome week!

Megan

Hats are quickly becoming an everyday thing…

Yes, hats.
After about a week of trying to think of creative hairstyles to cover my ears but not put too much pressure on the Clips, I have fallen back into newsboy caps.

Like this:

Sidenote: doesn’t Marissa Tomei look good for her age?
She’s nearly 50 now!

Anyway, I have found this to be the perfect way to hide both the Clips and Strips,  and keep everything in place all day (otherwise I touch them a lot making sure they are secure and discreet enough. I’m really not ready to have the “So what are those metal things in your ears?” conversation.)

This was a fun week of experimentation with the products. Here is what I learned:

1. It’s best to change the Pads and strips daily.
I left the same strips on a second day to economize (*cough* lazy *cough*) and I did experience a little irritation when I finally took them off.

2. Wrapping gauze around your ears to be able to sleep in the Clips doesn’t work.
I was hot, uncomfortable, and the Clips still hurt from the pressure of my head on the pillow.

3. Folding the butterfly-shaped pads and inserting them into the Clips BEFORE taking of the backing makes life much easier!
I will demonstrate in the next video.

4. When placing the Strips I try to aim for the upper part of the ear to have the most adhesive, because you really aren’t “folding” anything at the bottom.

And that is it for this week. I will try and get my video edited for next week. Let me know if there is anything you’d like me to include.

Ciao,

Megan

A favor…

Would anyone else be willing to post pictures of their ears?
Mine are below. Of course you can see them in the video, but here they are up close. Sorribes told me my ears were prominent because I was missing the fold.
What are some reasons they gave to you?
It would help me a lot.
Thanks in advance!

Happy New Year!

Hi guys,
I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays.
I started keeping a Sorribes Test journal to record usage, problems, and tips. Since I had to start fresh, I have been using the products consistently and correctly for just over a week. I decided to share the first week of the journal with you in case it helps any. Let me know if you have any questions about it, and please feel free to include any of your own suggestions. I am not posting any pictures as a week of using the kit could hardly make a difference, but you can still look for my video later in the month, where I will be doing a brand new demo highlighting any and all requests.
Until next week…
Megan

Wed 12/28:
Strip Use: 5 hours
Clip Use: 5 hours
Problems: Ears very sore after about 4 hours. I toughed it out to 5 to “train” them
Tips: None

Thursday 12/29
Strip Use: 15 hours
Clip Use: 3 hours
Problems: After only an hour my ears started to feel sore from the Clips. After taking them off I was pretty comfortable until the end of the day.
Tips: It helped to wrap my hair up in a towel before applying the Strips, with only a little hair getting in the way this time.

Friday 12/30
Strip Use: 8 hours
Clip Use: 8 hours
Problems: After 8 hours my ears felt extremely sore. Taking off the Clips alone did not help this time. I had to take both products off to give my ears a rest.
Tips: I found that if you peel the tip of both sides of adhesive on the Strips, it makes it much easier to remove the backing once it’s been applied to the ear.

Saturday 12/31
My ears need a break today!!

Sunday 1/1
Strip Use: 24 hours!
Clip use: 3 hours
Problems: Ears became sore after 3 hours. Once taking off the Clips, I was able to wear the strips all day.
Tips: If you insert the butterfly-shaped Pad into the Clip BEFORE taking off the backing, it’s a lot easier to control.

Monday 1/2
Strip Use: 24 hours!
Clip Use: 15 hours
Problems: I just can’t handle sleeping in those clips. Even if I fall asleep on my back (which is nearly impossible to do) I turn over onto my side an hour later and then the Clips really hurt my ears. I had to rip them off and go back to sleep.
Tips: None

Tuesday 1/3
Strip Use: 24 hours!
Clip Use: 16 hours
Problems: I still can’t sleep in the Clips. I’m trying to work on a solution for this.
Tips: None

Conclusions for the week
I have been wearing the Strips for over three days straight (changing them daily after showering) and my ears now seem to be cooperating! I need to figure out what to do about sleeping in the Clips. It really doesn’t seem like something feasible at the moment but I am hoping to change that. I see no difference in the appearance of my ears, but that’s to be expected.

I’m back!

Hello,
It’s nice to see some more names since I have been away.
I want everyone to know that I received the correct sized pads, and will be starting treatment again in a few days.
In Mid-January I will be making a new video addressing all of your concerns, so if there is anything you would like me to include and you haven’t already asked me, now is the time!
I’d like to point out that one of our readers has noticed a small difference in the fold of his ears in just four weeks!
I find that amazing, and it makes me even more excited to get going again.
Joel, we encourage you to post any pictures you have!
Ciao for now,
Megan

Before I get on that plane…

Two more things I was doing incorrectly in my videos:

1.  When applying the strips, the top part of the ear needs to be folded against itself to create that fold I was talking about earlier,  not pressed against the head. The bottom part does press against the head.
2. The protective spray should be applied before putting on the strips.

I decided I’m going to make a new demo since I made so many mistakes in the last one.
You can look for it sometime in the beginning of the year.

Cheers!

Megan

And we move along!

Well…I’m not going to lie. It’s been a little bit of a rocky start.

At first I didn’t know how to use the clams.
This delayed my video a bit because I had to ask Sorribes if they were used in tandem with the strips, or by themselves.
They reported back that I shouldn’t be using the clams unless they tell me to.
The clams are only for very heavy cartilage. I would definitely check with Sorribes before attempting to use this product.

Then we have the silver Clips. As I pointed out earlier, I was using these incorrectly at first.
Once I got the hang of it, everything about how the system works started to really make sense to me…
Except I was in a little pain after sleeping with the clips and didn’t understand why.
I took a good look at some of the models on sorribesonline.com, and realized that the pads they were wearing were much larger than the pads I was using.
Sorribes had sent me the wrong sized pads. I cannot use the child size due to the exposure of the silver against my ears.

So my journey is put on hold. I won’t be starting on Sorribes again until December 26th, as I am going out of town tomorrow, and the product cannot arrive that quickly.
My next blog post won’t be until January 2nd. I am not sharing photos this week, as there hasn’t been enough progress to judge.
I will leave you with my first impressions about the products, and the company as a whole.

The Good
1. Lightning fast shipping
2. Excellent customer service
3. Absolutely no pain when using these products correctly.
4. I like being able to see what my ears will look like when I’m done with treatment.
5. You can’t tell that I am wearing them.
6. The skin protective spray really does prevent irritation.

The Not-So-Good
1. I don’t feel their instructions are as clear as they need to be- though customer service is willing to help with any issue.
2. You have to be very precise with the strips. Incorrect placement means a sticky mess. Then you need to wash and start again.
3. Long hair and the strips are not friends. At the end of every day I have to gently pull all of my hair away from the strip, losing a few hairs in the process. Even if I wear it up.
4. So far it’s been tough sleeping in the clips. I sleep on my side, and when I put my ear on the pillow it gets sore from the pressure- though that may be because I don’t have the right sized pads.

But hey, if this means I can get “corrected” ears without otoplasty- count me in! So we will see…

Happy Holidays!
Megan

Quick correction!

Hi guys!

I just wanted to make a quick note about my third video “The Clips.”

Much to my chagrin, I didn’t place them correctly! The clips are important because they shape the antihelical fold that is missing from most prominent ears.
I will give you a thorough demonstration next month when I do an update video, but for now I have posted a diagram I got from Sorribes when they explained this to me.

Cheers,

Megan
